FAQ: Can I use Ribonucleoside Vanadyl Complex for in vitro transcription (IVT) reactions, or in other enzymatic workflows?
RVC is known to have an inhibitory effect on many enzymatic reactions, so we generally discourage its use in this context, recommending other ribonuclease inhibitors that NEB offers instead – Rnase Inhibitor, Human Placenta (NEB #M0307), and RNase Inhibitor, Murine (NEB #M0314). In some cases, however, the inhibitory effects of RVC have been managed through a reduction of RVC concentration relative to other reaction components (5, 6).
