My name is Mehmet Berkmen, but my friends call me Memo. I've been at NEB for the past 16 years. I love working at NEB because it feels like it's a company for scientists run by scientists. It has a very academic feel to it when you do research there. For the past 16 years, I've got a lot of freedom to pursue my research interest and my passion. Not only have I pursued research in genetics, E. coli, and protein folding, which is where my interest lies, but also following arts and science, which is where my passion lies. Together with local Spanish-born artist Maria Peñil Cobo, we have been making bacterial art in the lab for the past 11 years.
