FAQ: What is a transposome?

A transposome is a stable complex formed by loading a transposase such as TnX® Transposase (Unloaded) (NEB #M2623) with adaptor oligonucleotides containing mosaic-end (ME) sequences. During tagmentation, the transposome simultaneously fragments double-stranded nucleic acids and inserts the adaptor sequences into the double-stranded nucleic acid.
