FAQ: Can I use the Gel Loading Dye, Purple with the QIAquick Gel Extraction Kit?
Yes. Please keep in mind that Gel Loading Dye, Purple contains a red-colored dye which will create an orange color similar to an indication that the pH has changed. This should only be of concern if the DNA band you are extracting migrates where the dye migrates (approximately 300 bp in a 1.2% agarose gel). NEB has not observed any negative effects by adding acetate in recommended volumes if you are unsure.
