While not necessary, the addition of lysozyme will improve extraction efficiency. 10 µg/mL Chicken Egg White Lysozyme can be added directly to the lysis reaction. However, the lysate will become viscous which will require addition of 10 to 100 U/mL DNase I (NEB# M0303).
