Fast PCR

The speed of a PCR can depend on a number of factors, including the extension rate of the polymerase used, the ramp speed of the thermocycler and the complexity of the DNA template. Compared to standard extension rates of Taq DNA Polymerase (~1kb/min), enzymes that are able to perform fast PCR have extension rates that are typically 2-4kb/min.

  1. Types of PCR

NEB offers a variety of DNA polymerases for all of your experimental needs. High-fidelity, multiplex, and fast PCR are just a few of the types of amplification reactions you may need to conduct, and Breton explains which polymerases to choose.
