- Standardization range: 13 to 158 kDa
Description: A set of five proteins which can be used to calibrate a Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight (MALDI-TOF) or Electrospray Ionization (ESI) mass spectrometer.
Source: The individual proteins were purified from indicated sources by standard chromatographic methods. The two proteins from E. coli were prepared exclusively by New England Biolabs for use as standards.
Storage Conditions

 Storage Temperature: -20°C
Notes

General notes:- Avoid repeated freeze thaw cycles.
Quality Control for Current Lot

Quality control values for a specific lot can be found on the datacard which accompanies each product.
Quality Assurance Statement: MS Protein Standards are free of salts, glycerol and detergents.
MALDI-TOF MS: An aliquot of 0.5 µl to 0.1 µl of each of the proteins (2.5 pmol to 0.5 pmol) was mixed with 1 µl of Sinapinic acid matrix solution, air-dried and subjected to MALDI-TOF MS analysis on an ABI Voyager DE MALDI-TOF MS. The spectra obtained, contained primarily three m/z species:
primary species where z = 1
abundant species z = 2
minor species z = 1/2
Sinapinic acid matrix solution is prepared by mixing 10 mg of recrystallized sinapinic acid (Sigma D-7927) to a solution of 50:50 acetonitrile (Burdick & Jackson): water (Milli-Q or better) containing 0.1% trifluoracetic acid (Applied Biosystems).
