Description:
A set of five peptides which can be used to calibrate a Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight (MALDI-TOF) or Electrospray Ionization (ESI) mass spectrometer.

The individual peptides were synthesized using FMOC-chemistry and purified by reverse-phase liquid chromatography.

HPLC::
The individual peptides were subjected to analytical reverse-phase liquid chromatography on Vydac 300 A C18 silica and developed with a water to acetonitrile gradient with both solvents containing 0.1% trifluoroacetic acid. All peptides exhibited > 95% purity.
MALDI-TOF MS::
0.1 to 1 µl of each of the peptides (10 to 100 ng) was mixed with 1 µl of α-cyano-4-hydroxycinnamic acid matrix solution, air-dried and subjected to MALDI-TOF MS analysis on an ABI Voyager DE MALDI-TOF MS. The spectra obtained contain primarily one m/z species.
